If you are looking for military careers,
the US Military has five services you can choose
from. There are not just army jobs,
navy jobs and air
force jobs but also coast guard and Marine Corps jobs. There
are full time jobs and part-time jobs, such as those offered by
the military reserve.
Army jobs in the US Military
are of the widest range since the army provides security, does
land-based operations and is basically a vast set up. Navy
jobs deal with immediate sea-based reaction to conflicts and
projecting the power of the nation around the world both in times
of peace and war. Air force jobs
have to do mainly with defense of the nation through control and
exploitation of air and space. Military careers
in the air force are not all about flying missions. Most personnel
work on the ground in fields such as administration, construction,
support or technical fields.
Other than these full time or active duty military careers offered
by the US Military, there are jobs in the military
reserve of each of the military branches for persons who want
to live civilian lives but are called to active duty in times
of strife and conflict. Reserves
are a way for the military to keep citizens in
a state of preparedness; to keep them in touch with the military
and the military way of life. Being in the reserve calls for two
days of duty a month and a couple of weeks a year. This is a way
of keeping citizens trained in military basics
should the nation need to call upon them in its hour of peril.
Careers in the military or military
recruiting involves meeting with a recruiter. Before this,
you would have to find out about your eligibility, about benefits
information and branch missions. Military
recruiting into the enlisted categories or the non-officer
cadres requires you to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude
Battery. To be part of the military you could do an interest matcher,
i.e. determine exactly what interests and excites you as a job
prospect and take an overview of all the jobs in each branch that
there is. This will help you decide what job it is that you are
looking for. Find out about the medical and fitness requirements
for each of the jobs also before you meet with the recruiter.
